1,000 EV charging stations in Karnataka by June: Energy Minister V Sunil Kumar

Mysuru: Energy Minister V Sunil Kumar on Saturday announced big plans to augment the production of green energy and its usage. 

Sunil Kumar who inaugurated a national symposium on “Electric Vehicles and Its charging technologies” at KEBEA auditorium at Kadakola, announced that “Karnataka has set a goal to generate 10,000 mega watt via green energy, besides setting up 1,000 EV Charging stations by June”.

Sunil Kumar said “The focus is more towards generating green energy and in the next 10 years 10 giga watt green energy will be generated, as per the target. Our state is leading in adoption of renewable energy and we are heading towards becoming a carbon free state:, V Sunil Kumar added.

Electric vehicles and its charging is the future, hence we are targeting 1,000 EV charging stations by June and CESC alone has identified 207 points to set up the stations. The charging stations will come up at tourist spots, State and National Highways, government offices and the district headquarters, said Sunil Kumar.

Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (Cesc) Limited along with Karnataka Electricity Board Engineers Association (KEBA) zonal center jointly organised one-day national Symposium on “E-Vehicles and Its Charging Technologies”.

MLAs G T Devegowda and B Harshavardhan and MLC C N Manjegowda, officials from Energy department and MD Jayavibhava Swamy and EV and Charging Nodal officer Munigopal Raju were present.

Morries Garage (MG) and Tata companies electric cars and Ather two wheelers and Statiq EV Charging networks displayed their products at the national level symposium.
