18th edition of Nruthya Bhushana on November 29 & 30

Mysuru: The Bhushans Academy of Performing Arts and Visual Presentation is all set to host the 18th Edition of Nruthya Bhushana, a two-day National Classical Dance Festival, in association with the Union Ministry of Culture, on November 29 and 30, at Vasundhara Bhavana, Kalandika auditorium, Saraswathipuram in the city.

Renowned as Karnataka’s cultural capital, Mysuru has long been a hub for classical arts. This festival, which has become a hallmark of the city’s artistic identity, is celebrated for its emphasis on intellectual and classic themes, featuring performances by some of the most distinguished dancers in the country.

Since its inception in 2007, Nruthya Bhushana has been a platform for showcasing diverse classical dance forms in all their glory.

The festival is the brainchild of internationally acclaimed Bharatanatyam artists, Gurus Badari Divya Bhushan and Anjana Bhushan, affectionately known as the “Bhushans.” Over the years, they have curated various thematic dance showcases such as Abhinaya Bhushana (for professional dancers), Purusha Bhushana (for male and couple dancers), Udbhava Bhushana (for child prodigies), and others, fostering talent across generations and geographies.

For the 2024 edition, the festival will bring together meticulously chosen artists from across India, presenting group performances in classical styles like Bharatanatyam, Odissi, and Kathak, each built around specially curated themes. Esteemed stalwarts and emerging talents will grace the stage, ensuring an enchanting visual and cultural experience for attendees.

Free Entry for Art Enthusiasts: The event is open to the public, promising an unforgettable experience for all art lovers. Nruthya Bhushana continues to uphold its legacy of elevating classical dance while celebrating the diversity and depth of Indian cultural heritage.

The event is hosted by internationally acclaimed Bhartnatyam artists, Acharyas Badari Divya Bhushan and Anjana Bhushan, Artistic Director- Bhushans’ Academy of Performing Arts & Visual Presentation , Mysooru and Bangalore.

Event Schedule

Day 1 – November 29, Friday

6:15 PM: Inauguration by Karnataka Kalasree Revathi Kamath and internationally renowned Bharatanatyam artist Guru Padmini Ravi.

6:30 PM: Bhakti – A thematic dance presentation by Padmini Ravi, Lakshmi Ramesh and Shruthi Rao.

7:35 PM: Andal – A Bharatanatyam feature by Guru Soundarya Srivatsa and the artists of Narthana Keertana.

Day 2 – November 30, Saturday

6:15 PM: Kshetra Kavya – A conceptual production by Guru Poornima Gururaja and the artists of Kalasindhu, Bangalore.

7:15 PM: Colours of Krishna – A mega musical dance-theatrical production led by the Bhushans, featuring their sons Abhyuday Dhyan Bhushan and Abhignan Vedant Bhushan, along with Anushree Padmanabha and team (Odissi) and Sohini Karanth and team (Kathak).
