Mysuru: A video of artistes impression of Devaraja Market with new look has gone viral on social media. But from where did the video emerge, with the even authorities concerned surprised over it?
The 3D video of new Devaraja Market titled ‘Revival of Heritage Market Spaces-with thesis by R Inder Chand Jain’, running 3.14 minutes, is being widely circulated on social media. Interestingly the video begins from Chikkagadiyara (another heritage structure overlooking Devaraja Market) and also culminates at the same spot. A virtual tour.
Devaraja Market which dates back to princely rule is facing the threat of demolition and reconstruction with Deputy Commissioner headed heritage experts committee passing a resolution including another heritage structure Lansdowne Bazaar Opposite KSRTC city bus stand.
Devaraja Market Tenants Association President Pailwan S Mahadev told Mysoorunews.com “it is a pure discouraging act by the authorities. Neither the district administration nor Mysuru City Corporation (the custodian of the market which collects rent from the tenants) has shared the video officially”.
We will not step back, as we will continue to fight the case legally. We demand to reinspection from authentic heritage experts to seek their opinion, Mahadev urged.
