8,800 booth level task force committees to be set up in Bengaluru: Sudhakar
2 min readBengaluru: In the wake of rising Covid-19 cases in the state, state covid task force meeting was held in Bengaluru on Friday at Vidhan Soudha. Detalied guidelines were released for home isolation of asymptomatic cases and funeral of dead bodies.

Speaking to the media persons after the task force meeting Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said that local management will be strengthened for effective monitoring and surveillance of covid cases. Booth level task force committees will be formed and this will be the basic structural and functional unit for covid management. These committes wil include BBMP or Municipal Administration staff in urban areas and Gram Panchatyat staff in rural areas. There are about 8800 electoral booths in Bengaluru city and each booth will have a task force committe. A nodal officer has been oppointed to oversee this, Minister said.
Home Isloation of aysmptomatic cases
Explaining the facts and figures about covid situtaion Sudhakar said that “India has only 13 deaths per million population compared to 197 in US. The recovery rate is also high in India at 60%. The recent drop in recovery rate in Bengaluru is due to recent in addition in active cases from last few days. The mortality rate in Karnataka is 1.5%”, Minister said.
Going forward asymptomatic and people with mild symptoms below 50 years of age will be kept under home isolation if they meet the criteria mentioned in the guidelines. A centralised system is being created for allocation of beds in hospitals and a nodal officer has been appointed to oversee it, Minister said. Sudhakar said that detailed guildelienes for home isolation and funeral of dead bodies has been prepared.
Sudhakar urged the people not to panic and visit fever clinics if they have symptoms. A total of 400 ambulances will be deployed in city dedicating two for wach ward. Tele- consultaion facility will be made avialable to help people to consult doctor from home. Strict legal action will be taken against those who violate home isolation guidelines and funeral guidelines, Minister said.
