Gaushala in Gundlupet taluk! Minister V Somanna worships cow to kickstart the works

Chamarajanagar: Housing and district incharge minister V Somanna on Saturday kickstarted Gaushala works at Baragi in Gundlupet taluk for the conservation of cattles.

Somanna performed puja to the cow in front of the district administration complex in the town symbolically kickstarting the works.

Somanna said “the state government has sanctioned Gaushala for every district for the conservation of aged and sick cattle injured in accidents under an exclusive scheme of Prevention of Cow Slaughtering Act 2020”.

In Chamarajanagar district alone there are 2.6 lakh cattle heads and the gau shala will be built to accommodate at least 1950 cattle heads (0.75 pc of the total population). Initially, Gaushala to accommodate 250 cattles will come up at Bargi and Rs 52 lakh has been released towards the work.

In the first stage, sheds, borewell, store house, drug house and office will be built with work order already issued for the purpose, with three months deadline to complete the works.

Gundlupet MLA C S Niranjan Kumar said “Baragi Farm is spread over 100 acres and the said scheme proves to be apt”.

Chamarajanagar MLA C Puttaranga Shetty, Deputy Commissioner Charulatha Somal, SP T P Shivakumar, Additional DC S Kathyayini Devi and Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Dr Suresh were present.
