Legal expert Prof C K N Raja dies at 91
2 min readMysuru: Legal expert Dr C K N Raja passed away on Wednesday afternoon. He was 91.
A native of Nanjangud, Raja was born to C K Nagappa and Seethalakshmamma couple on February 19, 1932.
A resident of Lakshmipuram, in Mysuru, Raja is survived by his wife Meenakshi Raja, son Srikanta Prasad, Daughters-in Law Dr Gayathri Prasad and Sandhya, grandsons Aditya and Avinash.
While Raja’s another son Dr Keshava Prasad has predeceased him.
A Constitutional Law and International Law Expert, Raja was a practicing advocate from 1953 to 58, before shifting to teaching which he did with passion for 60 years.
Raja taught at Sharada Vilas Law College, Mysuru from 1958 to 1966, University Law College, Dharwad from 1966 to 1974, PG Department of Law, Mysore University, Mysore as Professor, Hod, Dean Faculty of Law, Member of Syndicate, Senate and Academic Council, for 18 long years.
Raja had served as the Principal of SBRR Mahajana Law College, Jayalakshmipuram, from 1992 to 1998 and later as Director of Legal Studies of the college.
He was a Visiting Faculty at Administrative Training Institute (ATI) Mysore, Karnataka Police Academy (KPA) Mysore, National Law School of India University, Bangalore and most of the reputed institutions.
He had also authored 25 books on Law, besides more than 250 research articles and two novels in Kannada.
Raja had contributed humorous articles to many journals and Magazines in Kannada like- Sudha, Mayura, Kasturi to name a few.
Karnatak University Dharwad had published a journal of Raja on “Freedom of Expressions under Constitution of India and United states in 1979.
Raja had served as the member of Indian Law Institute, Indian Institute of Public Administration, Indian Institute of Criminology, All India Law Teachers Association, The National Institute of Engineering, The Management Committee of Anathalaya, Mysore and Policy Holder’s Council of LIC of India.
