1 min read

Bengaluru: As AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge is now tasked to pick the next chief minister of Karnataka between KPCC president DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah – who are in the CM race – all eyes are on Delhi. The party high command has called both the leaders to Delhi. Both Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah are expected to leave for Delhi on Monday afternoon.

The Sunday’s late meeting of Congress Legislature Party with all the elected representatives of Congress at a private hotel in Bengaluru had moved a resolution authorising Kharge to pick the next chief minister.

The high command is expected to hold a meeting with the two leaders to put an end to confusion over the next chief minister, it is said.

AICC observers before leaving for Delhi met D K Shivakumar at a private hotel in Bengaluru. AICC general secretary K C Venugopal too held a meeting with D K Shivakumar it is said.

Meanwhile, Monday being DK Shivakumar’s birthday (May 15), his supporters are hoping that the party high command will give him a best birthday gift. Shivakumar, who turned 62 on Monday, cut a cake with the party leaders on Sunday.”People of Karnataka have given a gift of 135 seats in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. What more do I need?” Shivakumar posted on social media.
