Please forgive us: Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha
2 min readBengaluru: Taking exception to reports that a few BJP workers were beaten black and blue for offending BJP leaders Nalin Kumar Kateel and D V Sadananda Gowda in Puttur by the police, Kodagu-Mysuru MP Pratap Simha had a word of support to these workers.
After photographs of Kateel and Gowda’s poster being garlanded with slippers in Puttur went viral, the police in Puttur had beaten a few workers – allegedly responsible for offending the leaders – black and blue.
Taking to his social media handles, MP Pratap Simha stated that that party workers have every right to express their anger on party leaders as they do everything for the party. “They leave their family and sacrifice everything for the party. They seek votes on behalf of us and put up banners for us. They celebrate when a leader wins and at the same time, they have every right to express their anger when their leader or party is at loss. At this juncture, it is the party worker who is in danger and not any leader. Please forgive us,” wrote Pratap Simha. He went on to appeal to the party workers not to be taken over by someone else’s game plans.

It is alleged that the police acted under severe pressure from the BJP leaders.
State BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel had recently condemned the police’s action stating their action was a black mark on the police force. They could have done an inquiry rather than assaulting the workers. He demanded action against the police officers behind the assault.
