BEML employees stage ‘drum’ protest against central government
1 min readMysuru: Employees of Bharat Earth Movers Limited ( BEML) have staged a protest against the central government for planning for disinvestment in public sector units (PSU) in the country and dispose the set up.
Bharat Earth Movers Employees Association ( BEMEA) including officials and contract workers staged protest outside the factory unit at Belavadi in Mysuru on October 15, along with drum beaters. The protest was staged from 6 am to 7 30 am.
It is a part of nation wide protest by PSUs opposing the plans of BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the centre.
The protesters who made a humble call to save the factory with a slogan “BEML is not for sale” explained that “in the last 50 years, the factory has been making huge profits and has been contributing for the development of the country and the people”.
According to M D Rajashekar Murthy General secretary of BEMEA who spoke to Mysoorunews.com “The office- bearers will be staging protest, while the workers will return to work and join the protest as and when they get time”.
