1 min read

Mysuru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall in Mysuru on Friday and Saturday, coinciding with the city’s iconic Jamboo Savari procession, which draws lakhs of visitors each year.

Despite cloudy skies and intermittent rain over the past few days, officials remain hopeful that the weather will not significantly affect the festivities.

The forecast predicts rainfall ranging between 2.5 mm and 64.4 mm, although sources at the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre suggested that the intensity could be lower.

The Jamboo Savari procession is scheduled to begin at 4:30 PM on Saturday, October 12.

Mysuru has already recorded 36.6 mm of rainfall in the last week, a 13 percent increase compared to the seasonal average.

Officials have taken precautions, including setting up rainproof structures, to ensure that celebrations proceed smoothly.

Rain during Dasara is not uncommon, and similar conditions have been reported across southern Karnataka, particularly in Malnad and Shivamogga regions.
