Hassan: In an incident akin to a sandalwood potboiler, a village here was witness to a triangular love story that had its share of opening, entertainment, emotion and climax.
The real life incident at a village in Sakleshpur taluk eventually saw “Happy Ending” after the youth took a bold step to pick one among the two for marital bliss.
Before that, the youth had fallen in love with two girls. Interestingly, neither of the girls knew about the triangular love, until the secret came to be known after some time.
When the two turned adamant insisting the youth to marry them, the latter was in a fix. When the matter reached their families and village elders, they made a bid to broker a truce. They also gave an ultimatum for the duo to decide on either of them making a sacrifice. But neither of them were ready to forego their love interest.
Meanwhile one of the girls attempted suicide by consuming poison. Luckily she survived, but it didn’t cut any ice with the other girl.
As the issue returned to square one, the villagers summoned the trio and extended a solution.
They offered to go for a coin toss to decide the winner and loser. Prior to that, the village elders came out with riders to sign an undertaking and resolve that they will not drag the issue again by reaching police. After much dilly-dallying, the trio agreed and the elders were preparing to coin a toss in air.
Like a twist in the plot, the youth had a change of mind and embraced the girl who had attempted suicide. He also reiterated his true love for her and to enter wedlock.
Shocked, the other girl gave a nice slap to him, before walking away in a huff.
On the other hand, village elders heaved a sigh of relief, as the “Triangular Love” ended on a happy note.
