Acid attack! Magistrate records survivor’s dying declaration at hospital

Bengaluru: The 24-year-old girl who has suffered severe burns after acid attack has recorded her dying declaration before the magistrate.

The girl who has suffered 35 per cent burns is undergoing treatment at St John’s Hospital in the city.

The doctor treating her was also present when she recorded her dying declaration before the magistrate. 

The victim has reportedly told the magistrate that “Nagesh (who threw acid) had proposed me seven years ago, but I had turned down the proposal. Recently, a week ago he met me again to profess his love for me. He also wanted me to marry her, but I denied again”.

Nagesh was a tenant in my aunt’s home earlier. When I told my aunt about Nagesh’s threat, the latter called his brother and informed him.

On April 27 he had come to my office again only to threaten that he will make me suffer and ensure that she should not go with anybody. He also threatened my office manager.

On that ill-fated day (April 28), my father dropped me to office ( Muthoot Mini Fin Corp, Sunkadakatte). I was waiting outside the office door, when he came again.

The girl also told the magistrate that she is the second child to her parents having three children. She has an elder sister and an younger brother. Her parents eke out a living by selling vegetables near the house.
