Assembly polls! BJP gains early leads in UP, Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand, AAP in Punjab

New Delhi: BJP has gained lead in Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Uttarakhand and Manipur Assembly elections, while it’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab, with Congress not gaining much despite making all efforts to make a difference.
Following the conclusion of Assembly elections to these five States held in phases recently, the counting of votes is underway in the respective States on Thursday.
From February 10 to March 7, elections were held in different phases.
The results assume significance as it is held in the backdrop of series of farmer agitations against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP government at the centre, till the three controversial farm laws were revoked in the run up to the elections.
The issues like Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor at Varanasi forming BJPs core Hindutva agenda, Samajwadi Party’s former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s political strategy engineering the defection of ruling BJP government’s ministers and MLAs, cobbling alliance with RLD and Congress’ Priyanka Gandhi’s mantra of women’s empowerment were all discussed about especially in Uttar Pradesh, defining the strategies adopted by respective parties to win here.
Overall the results of five States will be decisive for ruling BJP government to chalk out its plans for 2024 Parliamentary elections.
