Ballari DHO denies reports claiming woman delivering at polling booth
1 min readBallari: Amidst reports claiming that a woman delivered in a polling booth near Ballari on the day of Karnataka Assembly election – May 10 – the district health officer has clarified that no such incident has happened!
According to Ballari District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr H L Janardhan, “contrary to reports that a woman who went to cast her vote Kurugodu taluk had a delivery at the polling booth, the woman had her delivery at a primary health centre at Korlagundi village at around 10,15 am.
The woman identified as M Manila had come to cast her vote and voted at 9 am. After casting her vote, she developed labour pain and she was rushed to a primary health centre immediately by health officer present at the booth.
Helath officer Dr Nausin Mariyam directed Manila be shifted to Korlagundi primary health centre and she delivered a healthy baby boy at 10.15 am. Following this, DHO Janardhan has clarified that the delivery did not happen at the polling booth, as claimed by several reports.
