BEML employees continue to strike against selling shares

Mysuru: Strongly opposing the central government’s move to sell stakes in the public sector to private players, Bharat Earth Movers Employees Association (BEMEA) have continued to stage a protest demonstration ouside the factory unit in Belavadi in the city.
Hundreds of employees have sat on strike opposing the plan to sell 54 per cent of shares to private parties.
The edgy employees allege that ‘ it will loosen the government’s hold on the public sector and hamper the defence system’.
The protest is being staged simultaneously with the employees in other units in Bengaluru and KGF also on strike in their respective units.
