BJP all set to retain power in UP; saffron surge in 254 seats

New Delhi: BJP is all set to retain power in Uttar Pradesh, with the incumbent Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to continue in the office.
In the present scenario the ruling BJP led alliance has already crossed the half-way mark by leading in 254 of the total 403 seats, while Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party (SP) led alliance is leading in 119 seats, former chief minister Mayawati led Bahujan Samaj Party ( BSP) in five, Congress four and others in three seats.
Even though BJP appears to lose over 60 seats it had won in the previous elections held in 2017, it is still sailing comfortably. Though the SP has gained from BJP’s loss adding more than 70 seats to its tally as gone by the leads in so many seats, it still lags behind in numbers to form the government.
Surprisingly, once belligerent Mayawati led BSP will surely be restricted to single digit, with its candidates leading in barely five seats. Similar is the fate of Congress leading in four, down by three seats compared to previous polls.
