Brahmins want EC to act against minister
1 min readIn what may land Minister Satish Jarkiholi in trouble, Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha ( AKBMS) has complained to the office of State Election Commission in the city.
Jarkiholi a Congress party leader in a recent convention held at Belagavi had reportedly said that ‘Barring dalits, muslims and other soldiers from the backward classes communities, no Deshpande, Joshi or Kulkarni belonging to Brahmin community have sacrificed their lives for the country in the line of duty at armed forces’.
AKBMS President K N Venkatnarayan in his letter to Commissioner of State Election Commission Sanjeev Kumar has alleged that ‘the very comments are an insult to Brahmin community that would incite the community further. Moreover it is also in violation of model code of conduct in place in the wake of ongoing parliamentary elections. Hence suitable action should be initiated against the minister’.
Most importantly, AKBMS condemns such derogatory statements made against any community.
AKBMS vice- president Shankar Narayan and general secretary Ramprasad were also among the delegation who complained to state election commissioner.
