By-elections! BJP leading in Sindhagi, close fight with Congress in Hanagal

Bengaluru: In the first ever electoral exam for Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, BJP is leading in Sindagi, while it is trailing behind, but by a slender thin margin at Hanagal.

The counting of votes for the byelections to both the seats is underway today.

At Sindhagi, BJP candidate Ramesh Bhusanur is leading by a margin of 5,000 votes against Congress’ Ashok Managuli , while at Hangal there is a close fight between BJP’s Shivaraj Sajjanar and Congress’ Shivaraj Mane. The by-election were held on October 30.

Hangal assumes significance as it falls under Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s home segment Haveri district.

BJP’s Shivaraj Sajjanar, Congress’ Srinivas Mane and JDS’ Niyaz Sheikh are in the fray in Hangal.

In Sindagi BJP’s Ramesh Busanur, Congress’ Ashok Mangoli and JDS Naziya Angadi and other three candidates are in the fray.
