Capt Amarinder Singh suffers humiliating defeat, loses to AAP candidate in Patiala Urban

Punjab: Former chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh suffered a humiliating defeat in the Punjab Assembly elections the results of which were declared on Thursday.
Amarinder the member of erstwhile Patiala royal family had floated his own Punjab Lok Congress after exiting from Congress. He had also entered into a pact with BJP.
He had sought reelection from Patiala Urban constituency, but on Punjab Lok Congress, and was defeated by Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Ajit Pal Singh Kohli.
While Amarinder had won the same constituency on Congress ticket in 2012 elections when he also brought back the grand old party into power, stopping the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and BJP juggernaut in the State.
