City Court to hear Rohini Sindhuri’s defamation plea against IPS officer D Roopa today

Bengaluru: The fight between IPS officer D Roopa and IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri has reached the court now with the latter filing defamation case against the IPS officer and seeking Rs 1 crore in damages “or loss of reputation and mental agony.”

IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri has filed a petition in the City Civil and Sessions Court on Wednesday. The court is expected to take hear the plea on Thursday.

IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri’s lawyers also appealed the court to direct IPS officer D Roopa from putting IAS officer’s personal pictures in the public sphere. Stating that the IPS officer has misused her position, the lawyers argued that her repeated statements against the petitioner in public has caused her mental agony.

The notice went viral after Mysuru-based RTI activist Gangaraju revealed the audio purported to be a conversation between him and IPS officer D Roopa. In the audio, the IPS officer has alleged the IAS officer of being a home breaker. She also alleged that the IAS officer had sought help from IAS officer and IPS officer Roopa’s husband Munish Moudgil over certain land details allegedly to help the IAS officer’s family.

In the notice, Roopa has been asked to tender an apology for levelling defamatory comments.
