City police bust university suspected to be fake, stop ceremony to confer doctorates

Mysuru: In a rare case, city police busted a university suspected to be fake that had organised a ceremony at a private hotel to confer honorary doctorates on the chosen personalities.
A police team led by DCP ( law and order) Dr A N Prakash Gowda raided a hotel, where the event had been organised in a hall.
The university named International Global Peace University had organised the ceremony to confer doctorate on over 150 eminent personalities.
As the police personnel turned up some of the organisers took to heels, while three were taken into custody.
Harihara MLA Ramappa was the chief guest of the event and was unaware of the status of the University till the DCP informed the former.
Interestingly, a troupe of drama artistes had also been selected for the honour. While some selected for the honour had even donated a minimal amount towards programme expenses.

A case has been registered at Vijayanagar police station.
