Congress inching towards magic number in 107 seats

1 min read

Bengaluru: As predicted by the Exit polls, Congress is inching towards the magic number with 107 seats in the total 224 seats to Karnataka Assembly.

While the BJP is trailing in 80 seats and JDS is winning in 31 seats and independents are 4. Until, the Congress achieves majority, JDS with this tally could still emerge as a kingmaker.

Some of the prominent Congress candidates who are marching ahead are Siddaramaiah in Varuna, D K Shivakumar in Kanakapura against BJP’s R Ashoka, Thammaiah in Chikkamagalur against BJP’s C T Ravi, Laxmi Hebbalkar in Belagavi Rural and Laxman Savadi in Athani.

While the Congress had been claiming that it will gain clear majority, BJP too was confident of getting a good majority. If the Congress gets clear majority, it would be a big shock to BJP that’s doing everything to keep its base in Karnataka as this had been its Gateway to Southern States.
