1 min readNew Delhi: Ahead of Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, BJP has got a big fish from arch rival Congress in its fold.
Former union minister Jitin Prasada who was the Congress incharge of West Bengal in the recently concluded Assembly elections joined BJP in the presence of Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday.
The 47-year-old Prasada was also a close associate of fomer Congress president Rahul Gandhi. He is the son of senior Congress leader Jitendra Prasada, a prominent leader from Uttar Pradesh.
Though speculations were rife of Jitin switching over to saffron party during 2019 Lok Sabha polls too, it didn’t materialise as Congress leaders succeeded in stopping him from jumping the ship.
BJP which is leaving no stone unturned to retain power in UP, has finally succeeded in bringing Prasada junior to its fold.
