Mysuru: Soon after taking charge as Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru, Rohini Sindhuri Dasari has got into action mode to tackle the rate of Covid-19.

The deputy commissioner has instructed the officials to set up 25 additional mobile teams to collect the samples. This follows a demand from the health and family welfare department.

Chairing a meeting to review the situation over Covid-19 and preparations for Nada Habba Mysuru Dasara on Tuesday, deputy commissioner said “currently there are 70 static teams and 30 mobile teams to draw Covid samples. We must have 25 more mobile teams to collect samples to increase testing and check the death rate”.

The deputy commissioner also consented to make arrangements to hire lab technicians and data entry operators for the purpose.

District administration will purchase 20,000 Viral Transport Media (VTM) equipment, needed to collect throat swabs for testing, at its own funds.
This was decided as there is a delay in procuring VTM from the health and family welfare department. Our priority is to reduce Covid death rate in district, she said.
Rohini also directed the authorities to convene a meeting of Covid-19 nodal officers.
DHO Dr R Venkatesh, MCC Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde, ADC Manjunataswamy, district surveillance officer Dr Shivaprasad were present.
