D K Shivakumar leads mammoth rally against hike in fuel prices
2 min readBengaluru/ Mysuru: Following the rise in fuel prices, Congress leaders across the state took out a bicycle rally against the central government.
The rally in Bengaluru was led by KPCC President D K Shivakumar along with Opposition Party leader in Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah, Rajya Sabha member M Mallikarjun Kharge, MLC B K Hariprasad and KPCC Working President Saleem Ahmed.
Shivakumar wearing mask complying with Covid-19 safety norms himself pedaled the bicycle to a distance from the party office on Queens road to the income tax department office at Minsk Square, Siddaramaiah and other leaders followed the rally in an open vehicle.
Rally in Mysuru
In Mysuru, the rally was taken out under the joint leadership of Mysuru District and City Congress Committee president R Murthy and rural president Dr B J Vijaykumar.
The party workers who staged a sit-in protest for sometime at Indira Congress Bhavan later pushed push carts till the deputy Commissioner’s office to highlight the plight of the common man in the wake of hike in fuel prices.
A memorandum addressed to the President of India was submitted at the deputy Commissioner’s office.
Former MLAs Vasu and M K Somashekar, MLC R Dharmasena, Congress party leader Suneel Bose and many other leaders were present.
