Dasara elephants start journey from woods to Mysuru
1 min readMysuru: A team of five elephants selected for Nada Habba Mysuru Dasara have started their journey towards Mysuru.
Abhimanyu the Dasara veteran is selected to carry 750-kg Golden Howdah. The other elephants selected for the festival this year are- Vikrama, Gopi, Vijaya and Kaveri.
Unlike previous years, the elephants were offered traditional puja without much fanfare at Veeranahosahalli gate of Nagarahole Tiger Reserve Forest in Hunsur on Thursday.
Priest Pralhad Rao performed puja to the elephants during the auspicious time fixed between 10 am and 11 am.
The caparisoned elephants will be arriving in lorries at Aranya Bhavan, Ashokapuram in the city at afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri, ZP CEO D Bharati, Conservators of Forest Hiralal and Mahesh Kumar, DCF Alexander and forest veterinarian Dr Nagaraj were present.
