Mysuru: Cooperation and district incharge minister S T Somashekar came down heavily on the detractors of Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.
Reacting to media queries over the raging remarks against the chief minister, Somashekar berated the claims of few leaders that they were instrumental in restoring BJP government in the State.
Had not the BJP won 104 seats under the leadership of Yediyurappa, we 17 MLAs wouldn’t have joined hands to form the government. Yediyurappa has a rich history of various struggles and movements to his credit. It is not right to criticise through media according to whims and fancy.
“If there is any issue, let them discuss at legislature party meeting. Instead, one should not resort to this level to flay the chief minister,” said Somashekar. ”
While 104 MLAs won on their own strength under Yediyurappa’s leadership, we 17 MLAs won on our own capacity, claimed Somashekar.
He also welcomed the recent decision of Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar to conduct a death audit related to Covid-19 in Mysuru.
Denying that there was a dearth of vaccine, minister said ” for now, instructions are received to vaccinate college students to facilitate the reopening of educational Institutions. However, we have requested for measures to vaccinate both college students and the general public to address the requirement.”
He clarified that despite providing relaxations and initiating unlock measures after two months of lockdown, we haven’t lowered the guard. The testings will continue at same pace and the people also must cooperate by following safety norms.
Somashekar lauded the initiative of Mysore Citizens Forum led by Suttur seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji in helping those affected by Covid-19 induced lockdown.
