Fifth annual meeting of B. R. A. Souhardha Cooperative Limited held in city
1 min readMysuru: “World Bank has issued directions to implement 16 goals in India by 2030 for the uplifment of poor. So far the department has conducted 22 meetings to implement these goals in the State,” said D Chandrashekar, Joint director, Department of Planning and Statistics here on Sunday.
He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the fifth annual body meeting of shareholders of B. R. A. Souhardha Co-operative Limited (a cooperative bank) having its main office on Hunsur road, Hinkal.
The meeting was held at Vijaya School in the locality.
Chandrashekar said “there is a need to provide good standard of living to Pourakarmikas in the state. There are more than 1.4 crore people belonging to SC community of which only 82,000 are government employees. While of the 45 lakhs people from ST community only 22,000 are working in government departments.”
Chandrashekar said according to the statistics available from 2011 census, only 8,13,000 people from SC community own agricultural lands, of which only 2000 people have more than 25 acres of lands.
“Social injustice still exists, as the funds earmarked by the government for SC and ST welfare are misused. Only two perc ent of SC ST are employed in the state,” he rued.
Kurabahally Dinesh, president of the Bank presided over the annual meeting.
Writer Hanasoge Somashekar, Hinkal Swamy and CEO of the bank Rohini A M were present.
