Free lactation consultation at Kangaroo Care Women and Children Hospital
1 min readMysuru: As part of World Breastfeeding Week, Kangaroo Care Women and Children Hospital is organising a free lactation consultation at its premises from August 2 to August 7.
Dr Shekar Subbaiah, Founder Director and CEO of Kangaroo Care Women and Children Hospital said the theme set by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) for this year is: “Enabling breastfeeding: making a difference for working parents.”
This year’s theme will focus on breastfeeding and work, providing a strategic opportunity to advocate for essential maternity rights that support breastfeeding — maternity leave for a minimum of 18 weeks, ideally more than 6 months, and workplace accommodations after this point. This campaign aims to raise awareness about breastfeeding and its advantages. Following a surge in the infant mortality rate due to a drop in the number of mothers who wanted to breastfeed, the initiative became essential. Breastfeeding has proven health benefits for both mothers and babies. Breastfeeding is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) until a child turns two and exclusively breastfeeding for the first 6 months of life.
