Hassan back in JDS fold as Swaroop wins over BJP’s Preetham Gowda

Hassan: In a fierecly fought election in Hassan Assembly seat between the JDS Swarup H P and BJP’s Preetham Gowda, the JDS has regained its lost ground. In 2018 election, BJP’s Preetham Gowda had won from here.
The whole Gowda family had come out to campaign for Swaroop, whose late father had been a three-time MLA from here. More than that, it was Bhavani Revanna who had taken it on herself to ensure Swaroop’s win after her own demand for the ticket was rejected. Bhavani had called Swaroop like her own son and appealed to the people to vote for him.
BJP’s Preetham Gowda, who had challenged to win with a margin of one lakh votes, had been making personal attacks on Gowda family ever since the elections were declared. BJP’s top leaders Amith Shah and others had campaigned in Hassan hoping to regain its foothold here. However, the JDS has emerged as the people’s favourite, once again.
