1 min read

Mysuru: The High Court verdict in Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site scam, against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, may dampen the spirit of Mysuru Dasara festival, the preparations for which is underway.

High Court quashed CM’s petition against the order of Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, according his prosecution in the case of site allotment by MUDA to his (Siddaramaiah) wife B M Parvathi.

This court ruling has brought the Mysuru-based mass leader Siddaramaiah under scrutiny, raising questions about his integrity, which had gone unquestioned in five decades of his public life.

Despite the controversy, preparations for grand Dasara celebrations were in full swing.

During his recent visit to Mysuru, CM Siddaramaiah had also announced that, the renowned scholar Dr Hampa Nagarajaiah would be inaugurating Dasara this year.

However, the MUDA scam and the alleged role of the CM, have cast a negative light on the upcoming festivities.

Meanwhile, the City Police are on high alert, closely monitoring the developments.

Additional police security was deployed at MUDA office on JLB road here, as well as the BJP and Congress parties offices, ahead of the court’s verdict.
