I-Day 75: Here we salute the freedom fighters
1 min readMysuru: The Government of India decided to honour freedom heroes and celebrate India’s 75th anniversary of independence in a grand manner.
As a result, a number of events were organised and the government gave the celebration the name “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.” Amrit Mahotsav, which loosely translates to “Nectar of Great Celebration,” marks the 75th anniversary of India’s independence from the British Raj.
Almost 200 years of British rule in India came to an end on this day in August 1947 when it became a democratic nation. The world’s largest democracy was founded as a result of the protracted liberation struggle. Through civil disobedience movement and non-violent protests, brave freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi and several others helped the nation achieve independence. At the Red Fort in Delhi, the Indian national flag was first hoisted on August 15, 1947.
The people of India are thankful to those who fought for the independence of their country.
Thanking you
