It’s official! 87-year-old man who died was a SARI patient

Mysuru: The Heritage City breached the double century mark and is pushing towards 300 as 22 new Covid-19 cases were reported on Thursday. The total number of cases now stands at 220.

Among the 22, an eight-month-old and pregnant woman have also tested positive. The death of a 87-year-old man is also made official.

According to the health bulletin, five patients were discharged in Thursday. Among the 22 new cases, three policemen and one health worker have also tested positive.

As on June 25, active cases stood at 92 and 127 have been discharged so far.

Informing about the first death due to Covid-19 in Mysuru – on Wednesday- the release said that “the deceased was 87-year-old. He was diagnosed with Severe Acute Respiratory Illness  (SARI) with cardiac issues. He arrived in Mysuru from Bengaluru on June 15. He received treatment at a private hospital in KR Nagar town”.

Later, he was referred to a private hospital in Mysuru on June 23 where he passed away due to cardiac arrest on June 24. His autopsy report stated that he had contracted the virus.

He was cremated as per the protocol.
