Mandya: The Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) is a rainbow in the lives of those who had to cut short their education either due to poverty, lack of accessibility or other societal conditions, observed Deputy Commissioner Kumar.

He was addressing a gathering after launching a campaign to create awareness on admission process of KSOU here on Wednesday.

He further said that the Open University is on par with traditional universities in terms of providing education and technical know-how at affordable cost. He urged everyone in the district to make use of the University and take up courses that they had wished to do.

Mandya Regional Centre director Milana said that the KSOU with its quality education is at the forefront in distance education. It has overcome several technical glitches and is now considered on par with traditional universities in providing technical facilities. The KSOU regional centre has contributed a lot to the district’s education graph, she observed.

A LED mobile display educating people about KSOU programmes were taken out at some of the prominent places in the district.

Publicity campaign co-ordinator Siddegowda, staff of regional centre and Rotary Club president Anupama were present.
