Kurbur Shanthakumar also wants the government to drop Dasara, Panchalinga Darshana plans
1 min readMysuru: Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers Association has also added voice, demanding the government not to celebrate Nada Habba Mysuru Dasara and Talakadu Panchalinga Darshana this year due to Coronavirus pandemic and natural calamities that has hit the farmers to a vast extent.
On Friday Association state President Kurubur Shantakumar stated that “across the state people are suffering from pandemic and also flood in a few parts of the state. The people in Mysuru and surrounding districts are under risk. We want Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to cancel any plans on Dasara festival and Panchalinga Darshana”.
Shantakumar demanded the government to instead use the money to improve the infrastructure at hospitals in the state.
“The central government has increased the fair and remunerative price (FRP) for sugarcane for the year 2020 – 21 only up to 100 tonnes. This is lower than the cost of production of sugarcane. Therefore, the state government should fix the additional cost and save farmers from hardships”, said Shantakumar.
