Man arrested for ‘forcing’ his neighbour woman to end life
1 min readMysuru: Nanjangud rural police have arrested a youth for allegedly harassing and forcing his neighbour to commit suicide.
Jayashri (30) wife of Chinnaswamy, Kallahalli in Nanjangud taluk is the deceased woman. Her neighbour Manja, 30, is the accused person.
On August 18, Jayashri had attempted suicide by setting herself ablaze with kerosene in the bathroom of her house. She had been admitted at burns ward in K R Hospital, where she had recorded her statement before the additional tahasildar from her death bed.
Jayashri in her statement had accused Manja of pointing fingers at her fidelity, on the night of August 17.
Manja who had an eye on Jayashri, though married, was eve teasing and pestering her to elope with him.
On that day, Manja who came home drunk created a scene, insulting Jayashri in public. Dejected, Jayashri took the extreme step following day. She had suffered 50 per cent burns.
Jayashri leaves behind her husband and two children.
Nanjangud rural PSI ( Crime) K A Chandru who investigated the case booked the accused under IPC sections 509, 306 and 354D.
