New Delhi: In the keenly fought elections to Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is all set to wrest the power from BJP ending 15 years rule of the latter in the national capital.
AAP has crossed the halfway mark of majority winning 134 wards against total 250 wards of Delhi civic body. BJP has been reduced to second slot with 103 wards, while Congress has to be content with measly 10 wards and others three wards.
Unlike previous election, AAP has gained over 80 seats, while the ruling BJP is down by over 60 seats, ceding ground to Arvind Kejriwal led party. Congress that has been faring poor in elections after elections, has also lost 12 to 13 seats when compared to previous election.
With this AAP will be holding the power of Delhi civic body for the maiden time.
The counting of votes is in its final stages, with a clear picture expected soon.
