Mysuru:The department of Psychiatry, Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC and RI) has started helpline for Covid survivors.
This follows the orders of Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhoori. To enable the patients who have successfully recovered from the pandemic, the department has opened a helpline.
The helpline includes a mental health team consisting of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and psychiatry social workers whose focus is to provide counselling for the COVID survivors and to understand their health conditions after the recovery.
The helpline began on October 23 and since then the helpline has so far attended to over 100 survivors.
Dr Raveesh B N ( in picture above), Professor and Head, Dept of Psychiatry told Mysoorunews.com “We submit a report at the end of the day to Dr C P Nanjaraj, Dean and Director, MMC and RI. The helpline has helped us to understand the post conditions of the COVID patients and further side effects if any. It is important for patients especially ones with diabetes, BP and cardiac problems to have regular check ups to avoid reinfection”.
It is a significant initiative taken up by the Mysore Medical College to help the patients and also to analyse the post effects of COVID. While it is an effective support to the patients, it is also building an understanding of the virus better by analysing it further, Raveesh added.
If you have recovered from the pandemic and want any suggestions please contact the following helpline number- 9686485727.
