Mysuru: Noted mridanga and ghatam, Tabala artiste Vidwan Mysuru Subramanya Kumar passed away on Friday. He was 49.
A disciple of Vidwan V S Ramesh Kumar, he was initiated into the field of music at a very young age.
To popularise music, Subramanya Kumar was regularly organising the Navaratri music concert at Jayanagar Sriram Mandir in the city. The Navaratri music concert had begun on Thursday.
To keep the memory of his mother alive, he was also organising monthly music concert, it is said.
He had played at the house of Mysore Vasudevacharya, on several occasions and was ready to perform whenever there was a necessary, recalled music patron Srinivas Putty.
