Mysore Amity Ladies Circle hosts Hair for Hope Initiative, a hair donation drive for Cancer Patients
2 min readMysuru: Mysore Amity Ladies circle 108 in association with Kimaya Beauty Studio is hosting the Hair for Hope initiative for cancer patients. The drive commences from 25th February and ends on 15th March 2023. Through this initiative, the Mysore Amity Ladies circle 108 aims to inspire individuals to donate their healthy hair to help cancer patients.People in and around Mysore have shown the initiative tremendous affection and support for the past four years straight.
Often women tend to cut, restyle, or shave off their hair for either styling or religious purposes. The Mysore Amity Ladies Circle believes that donating hair is a kind and generous notion for all those who want to give something back to society to show that they truly care and empathise with those suffering. In the course of the Hair for Hope initiative, 12 inches of hair are collected from participants and sent to a charity that makes wigs and supports cancer patients in need. Children as young as 4 years old, women of all ages, and men have all supported this initiative.
Cancer is a crippling illness, and many women and girl children find losing their hair during treatment to be detrimental to their own self-confidence. By our initiative to collect hair from individuals and our collaboration with organisations that produce wigs for cancer patients, we intend to contribute in a small way to this cause by giving wigs to the patients who are fighting cancer.
Speaking on the donation drive, Aparna Ranga, Chairperson, Mysore Amity Ladies circle 108, says, “We are striving everyday towards bringing a positive change in people’s life through our circle and this is one such initiative towards that. We believe Love is in Hair and donating one’s hair to someone who needs it is the best way to express love. We are grateful for all the volunteers who came forward and made this possible. Their contribution is immeasurable.
We hope this drive inspires more people to come forward and show their support by donating their locks for someone who needs it and show their love towards the cancer patients.”
Mysore Amity Women Circle 108 has participated in a variety of charitable activities aimed at improving society. In addition to building classrooms and bathroom blocks and supplying study materials, we also contribute to causes such as cancer treatment and women empowerment.
