Nadoja Dr Mahesh Joshi takes charge of Kannada Sahitya Parishat! Activists from Mysuru submit wish list
2 min readBengaluru: Nadoja Dr Mahesh Joshi on Friday took charge as the new president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP). Mahesh Joshi was elected in the recent election with a thumping majority of votes cast in his favour.
Writer and member of Mysuru district Kannada Jagruti Samiti Bherya Ramkumar and Kannada Jagruti Samiti Mysuru Nagarapalike member Arvind Sharma congratulated Joshi on his election and gifted the latter with a copy of poet laureate Kuvempu’s Vishwamanava Sandesha.
The duo submitted a memorandum demanding that the doors of the Parishat be opened to common man. The Parishat should at least enrol one crore members and women writers should also chair at least two of the total five literary meets in the five years of its tenure. Those voters having criminal antecedents should be dropped from voters list and also restrained from contesting both district and State level elections to the Parishat. An amendment to this effect ve made in the existing bylaws of the Parishat. A committee should be constituted at district level to enrol the new members and those voters who shirk the responsibility of voting in consecutive two polls must be omitted from the list. The names of the voters who are dead should also be removed at the earliest.
The duo also demanded for incorporating a new system to maintain a coordination between central and district bodies of the Parishat. Even the presidents of taluk units should be elected through voting, they added.
Most importantly any disrespect towards Kannada at government offices and IT and BT companies should be dealt with an iron hand. The aged and economically weaker writers should be provided financial assistance and adequate medical facility.
