Nalwadi’s 81st death anniversary! Manuvana the royal crematorium should be developed as tourist spot

Mysuru: Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar the erstwhile ruler of Mysuru was remembered on account of 81st death anniversary on Tuesday.
The prominent citizens of Mysuru led by historian Prof P V Nanjaraje Urs cleaned the brindavana of the late king at Manuvana, the royal crematorium on Mysuru- Nanjangud road and offered puja.
H S Yamuna of Karnataka Rajya Vokkaligara Vikasa Vedike recalled the contributions of late Maharaja who announced reservation for backward classes, eradicated the practice of Gejjepuje and Devadasi system. The reservation announced by the late Maharaja has already crossed 100 years.
Arvind Sharma of Kannada Jagriti Samiti said “during the regime of Nalwadi, the State saw sanitisation, medical facilities, education, drinking water and transportation related facilities.”
Manuvana that has the brindavana of several such great kings like Nalwadi who set a model for others in the country should also be developed into a tourist spot on the lines of western countries.
The grave of noted playwright William Shakespeare is a tourist spot that attracts tourists from all over the world.
Singers Sheshanna and Lakshmiram rendered “Mareyodunte Mysuru Doreya…” a popular song on Nalwadi.
T S Subramanya Deputy Director of Mysuru Palace Board, Griheshwar of Srigari Trust, Rangaswamy and Ambale Shivanna were present.
