Nandi at Chamundi Hill soaks in Mahabhisheka

Mysuru: The 19th Mahabhisheka was performed to the Nandi statue at Chamundi Hill in the city on Sunday.

Bettada Balaga Charitable Trust had organised the annual religious ritual.

Suttur seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, Adichunchanagiri Mutt, Mysuru branch Seer Sri Somanatha Swamiji and Hosamutt seer Sri Chidananda Swamiji supervised the priests in performing the rituals.

The monolithic Nandi idol was anointed with vibhuti, turmeric, vermilion, Sandalwood paste, tender coconut among 40 puja articles. Several hundreds of litres of milk, curds, hundreds of kg of ghee, 10 kg honey were used for the Mahabhisheka.

Eventually, jalabhisheka was performed to the statue, washing the structure with tumblers of water, poured from the wooden canopy from the top.

The statue was adorned with flowers of various hues, evoking a sense of devotion among the devotees gathered in large numbers, beholding the statue.

President of the Trust Prakashan, Secretary N Govinda, trustees Sundar, Shankar, Ramesh and Basavaraj were present.
