Nanjangud Dodda Jatra Mahotsava on April 2: MLA chairs meeting

Mysuru: Nanjangud MLA B Harshavardhan appealed to the people to cooperate for the success of Srikanteshwara Temple’s Gauthama Pancha Maharathotsava (Dodda Jatra), in Nanjangud on April 2.
Presiding over the preliminary meeting, MLA Harshavardhan requested for the cooperation of all for organising the Dodda Jatra Mahotsava on a grand scale.
Gauthama Pancha Maharathotsava will be held at 6 AM on April 2 and Theppotsava on April 4.
PWD officials must take up levelling works around the temple, Cesc officials must provide uninterrupted power supply. The statue of Dr B R Ambedkar, Ambedkar Bhavan, Valmiki Bhavan and Police Stations must be illuminated. KSRTC must operate additional buses and make suitable parking arrangements.
As a prelude to the Jatra, various religious rituals will be held from March 26, said MLA.
Nanjangud Srikanteshwara Swamy temple is world famous, as villagers and farmers from seven villages take part, said MLA Harshavardhan.
Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra said “As rathotsava attracts a large number of devotees, adequate safety measures must be taken at Kapila river, where devotees take the holy dip. Expert swimmers and boating facilities must be arranged, along with 200 mobile toilets, maintain cleanliness and provide drinking water facilities. Health and Family Welfare Department must provide ambulance service and Cesc should check electricity line on the rathotsava route.”
The use of plastic materials must be avoided and environmental friendly materials should be used. The rathotsava route should be clean, instructed DC Rajendra.
Assistant Commissioner Kamalabai, Temple Executive Officer Jagadish, other officials and villagers attended the meeting.
