2 min readMysuru: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates of BJP- JDS combine will win the forthcoming by-elections in all the three Constituencies in the State, said Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna on Tuesday.
JDS Youth Wing President Nikhil Kumaraswamy is pitted as NDA candidate in Channapatna Assembly constituency, Bharath Bommai from Shiggaon and Bangaru Hanumantha from Sandur.
After inaugurating the Rozgar Mela at All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) in the city, Union Minister Somanna spoke on the Karnataka’s recent challenges with drought and floods, stating that the State Government Government’s response was inadequate. This, he believes, will force people to choose NDA candidates in Channapatna, Shiggaon and Sandur Assembly seats, going to by-elections on November 13.
Somanna also highlighted the impact of recent controversies, such as the 50:50 site scams at Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and Karnataka State Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Corporation Ltd, which he says have damaged the Congress Government’s reputation.
He opined that anti-incumbency may work against the Congress in the by-election.
Discussing about unemployment, Somanna noted that, significant job opportunities are being created in the Railways, with 60,000 positions open, prioritising Kannadigas. He mentioned that Kannadigas can now apply in their own language for these positions. As part of the 75th year of Independence, 75,000 job letters were issued to young people, with the Postal Department efficiently organising Job Fairs (melas) in Mysuru and other cities.
