NEP-2020 at UoM! Dr C N Ashwathnarayan to launch implementation programme

Mysuru: In a first in the State, University of Mysore is all set to introduce New Education Policy (NEP) from under graduation level.

Vice-Chancellor Prof G Hemanth Kumar told media persons on Thursday “under NEP the University  is adding many courses aimed to upgrade skills among youths.”

Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwathnarayan will inaugurate the NEP- 2020 launching programme at Crawford hall on Friday at 3.30 pm.

Suttur seer Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji will grace the occassion.

Mysuru- Kodagu MP Prathap Simha and MLA L Nagendra will be the guests of honour.

We have also planned phase manner training for faculty members to adapt to NEP, said VC.

Those students who enroll for UG will be given a certificate after completion of one year, followed by diploma after completion of second year and bachelors degree after third year and honours after completion of the fourth year, said VC explaining the salient features of NEP.

School of Engineering

University is also the first in the State to be introducing School of Engineering from this academic year. Courses like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data science and Computer science and Design, Biomedicine and Robotics are the main combinations. While 150 seats will be admitted through CET, another 150 seats will be filled up through UOM entrance Test.

A new campus near School of Planning and Architecture is ready for the School of Engineering, said VC.

Center of Excellence at University of Mysore is being taken to another level. Software giants like IBM and SAP are opening their centers at our computer science department to provide advanced skills about industry demanding Subjects.

UOM registrar Prof R Shivappa was present.
