New sword to adorn Chamaraja Wadiyar X statue opposite Mysuru Palace

Mysuru: The sword of Chamaraja Wadiyar X the erstwhile Maharaja of Mysuru is being carved in Italian marble.
Surya Prakash the sculptor and elder son of famous sculptor late B S Yogiraj is busy sculpting the sword of the late Maharaja that was a part of the statue opposite north gate of Mysuru Palace.
On October 15 during Jamboo Savari, the enthused crowd swarmed around the statue, only to damage the part of the statue in sword.
It is not for the first time that the sword is damaged. Earlier also it was damaged thrice, but was got repareid by Mysuru City Corporation.
This time Surya Prakash is carving the new sword as it was ordered by MCC a day after the damage.
Suryapraksh is doing the deft job after conducting a detailed study. Besides, he has incorporated a new method to safeguard sword from any physical damages henceforth.
A screw type adujstment in the sword is planned by the sculptor and MCC is spending Rs 47,000 on the new sword.
It will be soon fixed to the statue of Chamaraja Wadiyar.
