Nirmala Sitharaman to present Union Budget for the 5th time
1 min readNew Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget in a few hours and this will be her fifth budget. She is among the six finance ministers – former prime minister Manmohan Singh, P Chidambaram, Arun Jaitley, Yashwant Sinha and Morarji Desai – who have tabled five Union Budgets during their tenure as Finance ministers in their respective governments.
Besides, Nirmala Sitharaman is the second woman after Indira Gandhi to have tabled the budget. Indira Gandhi had presented the budget for the financial year 1970-71.
Expectations are high among the middle class especially the tax exemption limit. Besides, hopes are high among those living in rural areas, especially the farmers. Farmers want an increase in cash transfer scheme PM Kisan to check rising input costs.
