ODP extends financial assistance to encourage farmers for organic farming, Naganahalli Extension Centre gives paddy seeds
1 min readMysuru: Organisation For Development of People (ODP), Mysuru distributed cheques and free paddy seeds to farmers at Aswal and Karimuddanahalli recently.
ODP in association with Andheri Hilfe Germany has formed Bhooshiri Farmer Producers Group at Aswal Karimuddanahalli.
The member farmers were trained on paddy varieties and hybrid paddy seeds online, with the assistance of Naganahalli extension education centre.
Dr N Shivakumar from zonal agriculture research centre, V C Farm, Mandya spoke on paddy varieties, sowing method, organic and chemical fertilisers, harvesting methods among other subjects.
He also answered to farmers queries.
Dr C Ramachandra, extension lead, Naganahalli Extension Education Centre explained about the significance of training for farmers.
ODP Coordinator John B Rodrigues spoke on the idea behind forming farmer producers group, water and soil testing and organic farming.
He also handed over cheques to the members to encourage them to undertake organic farming at 10 guntas of land.
Dharnesh Field Assistant, Naganahalli Extension Centre also distributed paddy seeds of MSN-99 and KRH-4 varieties to the farmers for free to take up cultivation in 20 acres of land.
Chitra from ODP, President of Bhooshiri Farmer Producers Group Lokesh, Yashoda and other members were present.
