Mysuru: Former deputy mayor and dalit leader V Shylendra on Wednesday announced that “the dalit activists have decided to stage a protest condemning the transfer of IAS officer Sharat B, near the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar in the city on Thursday”.
Sharat was serving as the deputy commissioner of Mysuru, when he was transferred and posted recently as the managing director of Karnataka Silk Marketing Board ( KSMB), Bengaluru.
Shylendra alleged that the sudden transfer of Sharath shows that “Dalit officers will be kept away from Dasara celebration. It also indicates anti-dalit and anti-Kannadiga IAS officers stand of BJP led state government. What was the urgency to appoint Rohini Sindhuri Dasari as deputy commissioner of Mysuru? questioned Shylendra.
Referring to the death of a 20-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh, who was gang raped in that state, Shylendra demanded the resignation of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Shylendra described it as a worst time for dalits, as the chief minister has failed to safeguard the community.
Leaders Praveen, Shivu, Prashanth, Shivakumar and Naveen were present.
